Amitabh Bachchan is a legend and the biggest superstar in the country, however, it’s Bachchan’s simplicity, especially seen with contestants on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ which fans love and how! The actor has continued to remain so humble over the years. The latest episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 17’ began on a festive note, with host Amitabh Bachchan extending warm Navratri greetings to viewers across the country. The megastar then delighted the audience by reminiscing about the time his wife, Jaya Bachchan, stepped into his shoes as host of the show.Big B welcomed contestant Pallavi Niphadkar and her daughters to the hot seat, complimenting Pallavi’s younger daughter for her traditional attire and mogra gajra. He mentioned that his wife too enjoys wearing gajras. During the game, Pallavi curiously asked whether he had ever experienced sitting on the contestant’s side. Amitabh replied that he had—and that Jaya Bachchan had once taken over as quizmaster.Recalling the moment with his signature wit and straight faced sense of humour, he admitted how unsettled he felt under her questioning. “Humari bolti he band thi, aise aise chaanta maara unhone humko. (I was left speechless; she slapped me left and right with her questions),” he said, drawing laughter from the audience. This wasn’t Jaya’s first surprise appearance on KBC. In season 14, she and Abhishek Bachchan had joined the show to mark Amitabh’s 80th birthday. On that occasion, Abhishek moved him to tears with a heartfelt tribute, calling himself his father’s “lifeline” in tough times. Jaya then cheekily put her husband in the hot seat, asking, “Aapko zindagi mein sabse accha kya lagta hai?” (What do you like the most in life?) To which Amitabh quipped, “Ab yeh show sarvajanik ho raha hai, yeh galat baat hogyi hai” (Now that this has gone public on the show, this is unfair).Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan’s love story remains so heartwarming over the years for fans as they continue to serve couple goals with their fun banter displayed sometimes. They first crossed paths at FTII when Amitabh visited with filmmaker Khwaja Ahmed Abbas. Their professional collaboration began with Guddi (1971), and after the blockbuster success of ‘Zanjeer’ in 1973, they tied the knot on June 3 that year. Over five decades later, the couple remains inseparable, sharing their journey as parents to Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan and as doting grandparents to Aaradhya, Navya, and Agastya.
