About ‘The Golden Girls’

While many of us will be mostly familiar with the comedy sitcoms ‘Friends’, ‘Seinfeld’ or even ‘How I met your mother’, the Susan Harris’ sitcom ‘The Golden Girls’, is surely a groundbreaking one, which premiered in 1985 and ran for seven celebrated seasons before ending in 1992.The series starred Betty White, Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty — all of whom have since passed away, but whose legacy continues to inspire. ‘The Golden Girls’ had over 180 half-hour episodes which spanned seven seasons. The sitcom revolved around four older single women who share a house in Miami and the small issues that they face in their lives. While ‘Friends’ focused on the youth, ‘The Golden Girls’ connected more with older audiences. Sadly, the sitcom came to an end when Bea Arthur chose to leave it. There is also a spin-off series named ‘The Golden Palace’.
