Dulquer Salmaan has not only cemented his palace as one of the ost exciting names of Indian Cinema as an actor but now as a producer he’s backed a winner at the box office with Dominic Arun’s Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen. The film in just 18 days has minted Rs 119.58 crore at the box office, going past Mohanlal and Prithiviraj’s magnum opus L2: Empyrean which had collected Rs 106.77 crore at the box office. Lokah is now all set to challenge another Mohanlal money spinner Thaduram which has collected Rs 122 crore at the box office. The film was released in Malayalam and as the days passed and its word of mouth grew, it was released in other languages. If one looks at the breakdown till now, the Malayalam version has contributed Rs 93.47 crore to the total tally, with Telugu version contributing Rs 13.06, Tamil Rs 10.45 crore and Hindi at Rs 2.6 crore as per Sacnilk.
Over its third weekend the film collected Rs 4.05 crore on Friday, Rs 6.65 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.85 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk. Going by the trend the film will move past Thudarum’s collection fo Rs 122 crore by end of the day or by tomorrow night. After that the film will be in direct competition with the biggest Malayalam film Manjummel Boys which has collected Rs 142.05 crore from it’s lifetime run. Though how the collections dropping over previous weekends, the climb to the number one spot is going to be an uphill task. Lokah is the part of the 5 part series actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan has put together to form the first ‘Universe’ of Malayalam Cinema. With the next part being led by Tovino Thomas which made brief appearance in the first part. It will be followed by Dulquer Salmaan in the lead and fourth one would be Mammootty in the lead.
