‘The Bengal Files’ box office collection day 14: The Vivek Agnihotri film nears its box office run after crossing Rs 15 crore

'The Bengal Files' box office collection day 14: The Vivek Agnihotri film nears its box office run after crossing Rs 15 crore
Despite facing release hurdles and being banned in West Bengal, ‘The Bengal Files’ opened with initial curiosity but struggled to maintain momentum against competitors like ‘Baaghi 4’ and ‘The Conjuring’. The film earned over ₹11 crore in its first week, but collections dwindled significantly in the second week, reaching a total of ₹15.72 crore.

‘The Bengal Files’ released in cinemas on September 5 after several troubles. Yet, it did not get a permission for release in West Bengal which made it lose a huge audience because the film is actually targeted to the people there. Despite opening to initial curiosity, ‘The Bengal’ Files has struggled to sustain momentum at the box office. The film has faced stiff competition from releases like ‘Baaghi 4’ and ‘The Conjuring’ as they all released on the same day and quickly diverted audience attention. Though, ‘Baaghi 4’ has remained better than ‘The Bengal Files’ and has now crossed Rs 50 crore at the box office in India, the Hollywood horror franchise ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ has done better than both the releases. The main market of the film was Bengal and the fact that it did not release there, curbed its box office impact. According to Sacnilk, ‘The Bengal Files’ had seen some growth over its first weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The film earned more than Rs 11 crore in its first week. It started seeing a drop further from the second week onwards. On Monday, day 11, it made only Rs 4 lakh and on second Tuesday, which is day 12, it has made Rs 50 lakh. On Wednesday, it has slowed down further and made Rs 46 lakhs. On Thursday, which is day 14, it saw an all-time low and made only Rs 26 lakh. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 15.72 crore. The contrast with Agnihotri’s 2022 juggernaut ‘The Kashmir Files’ is hard to miss. That film turned into a cultural and commercial phenomenon, whereas ‘The Bengal Files’ has so far fallen short in both scale and staying power. Now on Friday, Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi’s ‘Jolly LLB 3’ releases and it is likely that all the three releases will lose steam on facing competition from this one. Thus, ‘The Bengal Files’ is expected to near its box office run now with a collection of less than Rs 20 crore.
