The sudden passing of singer Zubeen Garg has left millions of his fans in grief. The beloved Assamese artist, known for evergreen songs like ‘Ya Ali’ and ‘Dil Tu Hi Bataa’, passed away at the age of 52 in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore. He is survived by his wife Garima Saikia Garg and their son, Gautam Garg.

As reported by India TV, Zubeen Garg married Garima Saikia on 4 February 2002. Garima is a talented costume designer, film producer, and creative professional who has made important contributions to Assamese cinema and other regional Indian films. Together, they were seen as one of the most admired couples in Assam. Additionally, their bond reflected Assamese pride and culture.

Garima Saika’s early life

Born in Assam, Garima showed interest in the arts from a young age. As per reports, despite her creative streak, she first pursued academics and completed her B.Tech. in Civil Engineering. During her studies, she even did an industrial internship at CPWD, while also writing, editing and blogging on the side.

Garima Saikia Garg’s strong career in films

Garima has made her mark in cinema with her talent and dedication.She has worked in films like ‘Mission China’ (2017), ‘Kanchanjangha’ (2019), and ‘Sikaar’ (2024). People praise her costume designs for being natural and creative, which makes Assamese stories and characters look real on screen. Besides designing, she has also worked as a producer, showing her many skills in the film industry.

Zubeen and Garima Garg’s social media moments shared with fans

The late singer’s wife has built a strong presence online, gathering over 210k followers on Instagram. She and Zubeen have often shared happy moments of their life on social media. Even a simple photo of them together in Mumbai would quickly go viral, showing how much people loved them.In April, they even treated fans to a carousel of pictures from their Sri Lanka holiday. The post was captioned, ‘You and I in this beautiful world… Thank you @riddip for these amazing shots.’

About Zubeen Garg’s tragic demise

Zubeen went to Singapore to attend the Northeast India Festival, where he was also going to perform for an event. He reportedly went scuba diving between 12:30 PM and 1 PM. During the dive, he suddenly had serious breathing problems.According to ANI, the organisers of the festival said, “He was immediately given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased in the ICU around 2:30 PM IST.”
