Anurag Kashyap has collaborated with Vicky Kaushal multiple times; however, the filmmaker shared that he is not in touch with the actor anymore. The director also expressed that he didn’t like the actor’s recent outing, ‘Chhaava’, based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Kashyap shares he is not in touch with Kaushal anymore
In an interview with The Lallantop, Anurag shared that he didn’t watch Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ entirely but in portions. The director stated he watched the climax part featuring his close friend Viineet Kumar Singh. When asked if he loved Vicky’s performance, he said, “I don’t have much interaction with him much these days. I don’t judge him, because every person has their own reasons.”While he was at it, the filmmaker also shared the real reason why he chose to leave Mumbai. He said, “Every person has their own ambitions, and it is up to them on how they choose to achieve them. It’s not my responsibility.”Kashyap also expressed his displeasure over the current atmosphere in Bollywood which he says has become “more money-minded.” He shared, “People are looking at ‘crores’ in their decision-making. This is what I ran away from. I don’t want to return to that world.”
Kashyap shares his opinion about ‘Chhaava’
In the same interview, Anurag Kashyap shared his take on ‘Chhaava’. The filmmaker shared, “More than ‘Chhaava’, it felt like ‘The Passion of the Christ’. I didn’t like it.”Kashyap added that he doesn’t appreciate the emotion that was being created out of discomfort. He said that he just watched it to see his friend, Viineet. He said, “I don’t want to judge.”The director added that he didn’t understand Laxman Utekar‘s storytelling choices; however, he acknowledged that others did. He said, “That’s why I’m not a part of the mainstream; I’m a more romantic sort of person.”The filmmaker also stated that the movie was “exploitative” and added that he couldn’t sit through the entire film.
