The Salman Khan house firing case has once again captured public attention. According to the latest reports, a special court in Mumbai refused bail to Mohammed Rafiq Sardar Chaudhari who is an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.Chaudhari, who is accused of involvement in the shooting at the actor’s Galaxy Apartments on April 14, 2024, had filed a plea citing delayed FIR registration, illegal arrest, absence of key evidence, and his clean criminal record.
As reported by PTI, Judge Mahesh Jadhav rejected the request, stating that Chaudhari played an “active role” and was “intentionally involved in organised crime activities.”
Details of Chaudhari’s involvement
The prosecution highlighted that Chaudhari was spotted near Salman Khan’s residence just two days before the incident. He reportedly recorded a reconnaissance video during his survey of the premises and shared it with Anmol Vishnoi, the younger brother of Lawrence Bishnoi.Reportedly, the special public prosecutor Mahesh Mule argued that Chaudhari’s actions aided and abetted the crime, making him ineligible for bail under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The court emphasized that he failed to meet the twin conditions for bail under the law which reinforces the gravity of his alleged involvement.
Current status of the accused
At present, Chaudhari, along with Gupta, Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, and Harpal Singh, remains in judicial custody. One accused, Anujkumar Thapan, tragically died by suicide while in police custody. The chargesheet lists the Bishnoi brothers as the main wanted accused behind the attack.
