Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, who turned 60 this year, made an appearance on Prime Video’s chat show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, where he spoke candidly about his personal life, past relationships, and his views on love and marriage. The actor, who introduced his partner Gauri Spratt earlier this year on his milestone birthday, reflected on his marriages with Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, and how he coped with heartbreak before finding companionship again.
During the conversation, Twinkle Khanna remarked playfully, “We have been married for so long, and we are now living vicariously through you. You are like this fresh lease of life. Even at 60 you have romance in your life.”
To this, Aamir replied with honesty: “There are two ways of looking at it. You people haven’t been through such traumatic break-ups like I have. I was very close to Reena and Kiran. I mean ‘was’ is the wrong word to use—I am still very close to them. So when you are with a person for such an extended period of time, like 16 years… Reena and I grew up together. When something doesn’t work out, it is a hit, and you have to recover from that. It took me four years to recover. That you all haven’t gone through. So everyone has their own life. I feel lucky that the two women I have been married to are really wonderful. Though we went through a breakup, we are still a family.”
Twinkle then asked if he believed love was easy, but marriage was difficult. Aamir offered a thoughtful perspective: “When you are committed to a relationship, then marriage is just signing papers. But if you are really connected with the person, it is like marriage. Gauri and I, today we are together. We are highly committed to each other.”
Adding her own insight, Twinkle quipped, “They say love is blind but marriage is like a magnifying glass. You hold it up, you see all the flaws, and you even burn the person with sunlight.” To which Aamir responded: “It is also part of growing up, learning things. You realise things about yourself.”
The actor’s reflections offered a rare glimpse into his personal journey—one that spans enduring bonds with his former partners and his new chapter with Gauri Spratt. While maintaining his strong ties with Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, Aamir has now embraced love once again, highlighting that commitment and understanding lie at the heart of any relationship.
