Pawan Kalyan with his latest film ‘They Call Him OG’ is showcasing his strength and pull at the box office when he has the right role and the right team. In India the film has already set records with the highest premiere day collection by minting Rs 23 crore and with just morning shows on day 1 the film has collected more than Rs 11 crore. The magic of Pawan Kalyan is not limited just to India, the film in North America has already become the highest grossing Telugu film of the year and too just with its premiere day collection. Till now the highest grossing Telugu film of the year was veteran actor Venkatesh’s comedy action film Sankranthiki Vansthunam which collected nearly USD 2.96 million from its theatrical run in the circuit. A couple of weeks ago when Teja Sajja fresh from the success of Hanu-Man released his film Mirai- it was expected to take the top spot as in no time the film’s collection went past USD 2.6 million. But with Pawan Kalyan in the fray, destiny had a different plan, with reports coming in the film about an hour ago that it had crossed the USD 3 million mark. Till yesterday the film had already earned around USD 2.6 million from advance booking for its premiere shows and today with the help of walk-ins the film had already become the biggest Telugu hit of the year. The premiere of the film was in great jeopardy till yesterday as the makers from India were not able to share the content to overseas distributors on time leading to last minute rush for deliveries of hard drives, for few locations Pawan Kalyan’s fan were brought in to make the delivery happen. They Call Him OG is directed by Sujeeth and also marks the debut of Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi to Telugu films.
