According to the NDTV report, the team of Assam Police investigating the state icon’s demise during the Northeast India Festival in Singapore searched three places. Reportedly, the police raided the residence of the chief organizer of the festival, Shyamkanu Mahanta, in Guwahati. Apart from that, the SIT also conducted search operations at the late singer’s manager’s house, along with his sound recordist’s home. These raids were conducted after Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma blacklisted the organizer and banned him from holding any event or function. The CM also requested the masses to let the SIT probe the matter first, and if the results come out unsatisfactory, he would transfer it to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He said, “Have faith in the SIT. They will probe all the possibilities that led to the death. If the SIT fails, we will hand over the case to the CBI.”Amidst growing demand for a CBI inquiry in the case, the CM further stated that the cops will first find out the details of everything that happened. He shared, “A section of people around Zubeen Garg have tried to use him for their gains.”Sarma further stated that he had observed the same for a long time and even shared it with the late singer. The CM said that he was not in favor of the event organized by Mahanta. He said, “I never encouraged it. We will not fund them anymore and have banned them.”
