Back in the golden days of Bollywood, films were not only about big stars and dramatic plots but also about the unforgettable moments that happened behind the scenes. One such memory comes from the 1980 film ‘Chambal Ki Kassam’. The movie promised a thrilling ride with an impressive line-up of stars like Raaj Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Moushumi Chatterjee, Farida Jalal, Amjad Khan and Ranjeet. Though the film could not leave a mark at the box office, what stayed alive were the light-hearted stories from its sets.
Ranjeet later shared the funny story
Years later, actor Ranjeet recalled a hilarious incident from the shoot during his appearance on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ in past. He revealed that the cast had been staying in a guest house near a river while filming ‘Chambal Ki Kassam’.
Raaj Kumar surprised everyone with his idea
During one of those evenings, Raaj Kumar came up with a sudden suggestion. As Ranjeet remembered, “We were sitting together when Raaj Kumar suddenly suggested, ‘Jaani, why don’t you shoot a scene of Moushumi and me bathing in the river?’” The idea instantly caught everyone’s attention and left Moushumi Chatterjee quite surprised.
Moushumi Chatterjee refused to enter the river
Not wasting a moment, Moushumi gave her reply. As explained by Ranjeet, she said, “No, Raaj ji, I don’t know how to swim.” Her response made it clear that she had no interest in stepping into the river, but Raaj Kumar was not ready to stop there.
Raaj Kumar tried to comfort the actress
With his trademark charm and style, Raaj Kumar tried to reassure her. He said, “Jaani, I will be there with you, why do you worry?” His words made it sound as if he could handle the whole situation himself.
Moushumi Chatterjee made a witty remark
But Moushumi was quick with her humour. She looked at him and said, “If your wig comes out in the river, will you save your wig or me?” Rather than getting offended, Raaj Kumar laughed heartily at Moushumi’s comeback. What could have been an awkward moment turned into light fun, lifting the mood of the entire unit. Ranjeet shared that the whole team enjoyed the playful exchange.
Raaj Kumar remained a respected film legend
Over the years, Raaj Kumar had built a reputation for his unique voice, powerful dialogue delivery and commanding screen presence. His journey made him one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic figures until his passing in 1996 at the age of 69 due to throat cancer.
