AR Rahman has joined hands with Hollywood’s renowned composer Hans Zimmer for the first time for Nitesh Tiwari‘s ‘Ramayana‘. The buzz around the film has been massive, and the announcement of the two Academy Award-winning composers coming together added even more excitement for the project.
AR Rahman says working with Hans Zimmer has been ‘memorable so far’
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, composer AR Rahman shared that he would not be able to reveal much about the project, but shared, “But you got a taste of our collaboration in the teaser.”The Mozart of Madras stated that it is one of the most exciting projects he has “personally taken on.” He added that the work on the music of the film is still ongoing. He said, “We are very proud of how it’s shaping out to be, both musically and culturally.”Speaking about collaborating with Hans Zimmer, he told the publication that getting everyone at the same place has become a huge task. He said, “Hans is a very busy man,” adding that the producer of the film is going all out to figure out how to coordinate everyone’s schedules.Rahman quipped, “Getting us all together at the same time, much less the same place, is no mean feat.” The singer-composer further shared that the “beginnings” to ‘Ramayana’ have been “very beautiful and memorable so far.”

The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will see Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, KGF star Yash as Ravan, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.The makers had dropped the teaser of the film recently, which received a lot of appreciation from the masses. With that, the producers revealed the tagline of the film, ‘Our truth, our history.’The film will be released in two parts. The first instalment will be out in Diwali 2026, while the second part is scheduled for a Diwali 2027 release.
