It seems Pawan Kalyan and his fans are out with vengeance to prove themselves at the box office. In North America it has already taken the biggest premiere of the year and has simultaneously become the highest grossing telugu film of the year and in India as well the records are tumbling. The film directed by Sujeeth and co-starring Emraan Hashmi with Pawan Kalyan has taken the fourth biggest opening for a Telugu film with a day 1 collection of Rs 70 crore. The overall day 1 collection of the film stands at Rs 70.75 crore with telugu version contributing Rs 70 crore and rest coming in from Hindi, Tamil and Kannada. While total collection of the film including it’s paid premiers stands at Rs 91 crore. The film also had th biggest premiere day collection in the history of Indian cinema. With a day 1 Telugu collection of Rs 70 crore, Pawan Kalyan has left behind some of the biggest names of Telugu cinema like Prabhas and Allu Arjun. To reach the fourth spot Pawan Kalyan’s gangster drama had to go past titles like Prabhas’s Salaar : Part 1 – Ceasefire ( Rs 66.75 Crore), Kalki 2898 AD ( Rs 65.8 crore), Saaho ( Rs 60 crore) , Baahubali 2- The Conclusion ( Rs 58 crore) Allu Arjun’s Pushpa- The Rise ( Rs 38.15 crore) and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo ( Rs 37 crore). The only three films ahead of They Call Him OG are Jr NTR’s Devara; Part 1 with Rs 73.25 crore collection, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2- The Rule with Rs 80 crore collection and SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s RRR with Rs 103.13 crore collection. While already establishing himself on the 4th spot of highest day 1 collection of Telugu cinema, it would be interesting to note that most other films also had a simultaneous and wide Hindi release and some of them have gone on to become the biggest hits of Indian Cinema. But They Call Him OG has gone wide in Telugu but has very limited release in other languages, so it would be intriquing to see how the film fares from here on.
