The Mumbai Police have registered a case against an employee of a Bandra cafe owned by Bollywood actor Jibraan Khan, over misappropriation of funds.Officials confirmed that the staffer had siphoned off nearly Rs 34 lakh, officials confirmed on Friday. According to PTI, police sources claimed that the ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ star, who owns a cafe in Bandra, discovered that several payments to the suppliers were overdue. He subsequently ordered an audit of the accounts.
Cafe employee siphoned off profits
The audit revealed that while the cafe recorded cash sales of Rs 1.14 crore between April and March. Of the said amount, only Rs 79.67 lakh had been deposited into the bank. The remaining Rs 34.33 lakh was allegedly siphoned off. The accused, identified as Ajay Singh Rawat, the general manager of the cafe in 2022, allegedly walked away with the money for his ‘personal use’, as per the complaint.When the actor reportedly attempted to contact Rawat, he ignored his calls and eventually blocked him. The actor then approached Bandra Police, leading to the registration of a case.
Actor registers case
Following an inquiry, Rawat was booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for fraud and criminal breach of trust. Police said further investigation is underway.
